Vinted Shoppers Express Anger Over Sizing Modifications
Vinted users have been reacting angrily after an update resulted in listings displaying inaccurate size information.
This online marketplace has updated its size classifications for women's and children's clothes without notifying all users about the change.
Online Platforms Backlash
Numerous buyers and vendors are expressing on platforms saying Vinted listings now show an altered size classification compared to what was initially listed because of the remapping.
Vinted explained the revised method more closely matches comparable marketplaces.
The platform has recommended to check their listings and manually change the size where appropriate, which has left users frustrated.
Measurement Approach Modifications
Previously, the sizes had both a single numeric size and a letter, such as S/8 or M/10.
The updated approach includes a letter with a size spectrum like S/UK 8-10.
In some cases, the sizing has been recategorised - like an L measurement was formerly size 12 but currently displays as UK 16-18.
Shopper Stories
Frankie Bridger, who produces content about larger sizing, said the change "makes both selling and buying harder".
"Rarely do manufacturers list XL as sizes 20-22," as the platform currently indicates.
Stephanie Gallen, located in Scotland, explained products she uploaded on Vinted with size 14 labels were displaying on the service as size 20–22.
"If buyers measuring 20-22 acquire them they may become frustrated," she stated.
Manual Updates
Another shopper, located in England, explained she became annoyed because the modification necessitated personal updates the sizing for "all her products".
"For me this is particularly frustrating, since I have chronic health issues and Vinted sales have been crucial following partial earnings loss," she stated.
Platform Context
The app has more than 100 million members, comprising 18 million UK members.
It has proved a popular alternative to second-hand platforms like eBay and Depop.
This isn't the first time that an unexpected update on the platform has faced criticism: last year, the service retracted a modification regarding delivery choices after backlash from users.
