It has been 30 years since the original Toy Story movie was released, launching the animation giant as a leading film company and introducing viewers to iconic figures like Woody (Tom Hanks) and the space ranger (the voice talent), who are now household names.
Coming in 2026, the next chapter is set to arrive. The initial preview for Toy Story 5 appeared recently, providing a brief look into the storyline but keeping viewers curious how it will resolve the conclusion of Toy Story 4.
The Latest Addition: A Frog-Shaped Tablet Spooks the Toys
In the teaser reveals the young girl — who received the toy collection when he left for college — receiving a latest plaything, one that terrifies the familiar toy group. Bonnie acquires her first tablet computer, and she is excited about it.
Theoretically, the frog-shaped tablet will come to life just like Bonnie's other toys. Still, the toys seem to view it as a danger intending to supplant them, which it likely will.
The Cowboy's Comeback: Mysteries from Toy Story 4
One thing the teaser avoids is what Woody is returned with his friends in the child's bedroom. The end of Toy Story 4 saw him set off on a new adventure with the shepherdess (Annie Potts), traveling with a fair and assisting giveaway items locate loving owners.
Certainly, Pixar will address the consequences of Toy Story 4 in the film. Witnessing him show up in the familiar setting unexpectedly is a little strange, though. It also makes us wonder whether his partner will have come back with Woody. And where is Duke Caboom (the star)?
Continuity from the Last Installment
Fortunately, some elements are continuing from the prior film. The final act the cowboy did before setting off for his new life was hand over his symbol of authority to Jessie (the voice actor), entrusting her as the leader of the toy domain. The clip shows the badge attached to her outfit.
It is hoped she is remains the driving force among the toys.
Toy Story 5 arrives in theaters on June 19, 2026.
